The transconnective locus of my practice occupies materially and consciously conjoined
parts and wholes of matter, non matter, subject, object, part subject, part object, social
constructions, the world, and the cosmos. Repositioning the subject and artwork to a
context that is open, plural, partial and contingent in the mutuality of emerging encounters.
In this, the impossibility of not sharing, reconfigures domains of constant responsive
becoming in art and in life. Correlating material and immaterial realms through affective
forces in artmaking, my studio work aims to expand a space of painting that occupies intra
connections of light and darkness, emerging colour to emulate processes in the activity of
becoming. {In attempt to connect with furnishing a future orientated subjectivity. A non
subjective subject}
The rationale for working with these disparities in painting, explores what has been
distinguished as separate ‘phenomenal’ and ‘super sensible’ realms, to disclose
transconnective possibilities encompassing ‘inner and outer light’, as an enmeshment of
consciousness and substance examined throughout my practice.
A cross disciplinary approach explores composite installations of non-objective abstraction
and immersive colour atmospheres with painted components, objects and moving image
projections arranged and suspended in spaces. Extending transformational processes within
light, darkness and colour to address complexities concerning agency and conjoined
pluralistic forces on one body’s capacity to affect other bodies (human and non human).
Including the corresponding inseparable power to be affected.
Studio explorations seek translatable means to orientate within the terrain of contemporary
existential challenges, regarding mechanisms of domination and the pervasive infiltration on
the colonisation and institutionalisation of the human subject.
Whilst located within trajectories of aesthetic traditions related to the sublime, my practice
seeks to further an iteration in contemporary philosophy of new materialism developing
contributions from Lyotard, Deleuze and Guattari, Spinoza and Bergson related to Bracha
Ettinger’s transconnectivity,{ to reposition and furnish a future orientated subject}. Furthering
a context for art that can overcome conditions and inquire as to new coefficients of freedom
via the unknown. Not by making sense of these dynamics but by exploring more possibilities
of being and becoming.
